Pouch in Germany is clearing its inventory of Single 2000s. A new kayak costs (incl. VAT ~16%) EUR 1598 instead of the regular EUR 2508.

(the sale is not mentioned in the English version of their website)

Addition to the previous post. The Pouch web http://www.poucher-boote.de/index.php?aktuell
lists a SE2005 that has fore and aft hatches. This boat does not seem to be the same as the E-68 at the Pouch US web http://www.pouchboats.com/e68.html . Does anyone know the SE2005 and is it still around. The E-68 is not listed on the offical Pouch web page.

I believe the Single 2000 (discontinued) is identical to the E68 in the US. The SE 2005 is a different boat, a new model replacing the Single 2000. This would explain why the E68 (=Single 2000) is not listed here:

Thanks, do you know if Pouch deals directly with US customers or is it best to inquire with Ralph Hoehn's company here in the US. I like the the SE2005 better than the E-68 (2000). If you do a Google for "folding Kayak" images there is a great link and photos of this boat, it's red, listed on the left side of the Google images hits. There is a great shot of the frame, no skin, and a report by the German owner living in Australia and his first open water paddle. Click on his home page and sea kayaking to read about his comments.

I've had good luck contacting Ralph using the telephone number on his website or emailing him. He travels a lot, so there may be some delay in hearing from him. The last time I had a good look at Pouch's website, Ralph was still listed as Pouch's U.S. or North American dealer.

The E68, on the plus side, assembles easily and is a joy to paddle. On the other hand, it weighs a whole lot, has some quality issues vis-a-vis hardware.

The SE 2005 looks like it's assembled in halves, which are joined after fitting them inside the skin - a more traditional approach.

C.

Hi
I am the said owner living in Australia. My SE2005 (called Moritz) has been with me for over a year and has had several trips. Here is a link to my trip to Southwest Tasmania in last January http://picasaweb.google.com/StephanMeyn/PortDaveyJan2006.

Overall I like the kayak. It has a few shortcomings - like things are harder to stow than in other folders but it is a very hardy kayak that can keep up with hardshell kayaks without big problems.

I think, they will deal directly with US customers, inquire by mail to:

Poucher Boote GmbH

Bitterfelder Str. 24

06774 Pouch

Germany

Phone: **49 3493-55293

Fax: **49 3493-55231

poucher@poucher-boote.de

As listed on their web site, the US representant is:

The Folding Boat Center
234 May Street
Enfield, NH 03748
USA

I have no idea, who much they charge for shipping from Germany to the US, however, the good news is: there are no duties or taxes on importing folding kayaks into the USA. I had a Klepper Aerius AEI, a Feathercraft Big Kahuna and a K1 shipped into the USA and never got charged anything.

servus,

Willi
