The story I have always been told is that my Grandfather brought this back when he returned from Europe during WWII.

It is Canvas hulled, with extra rubber on the bow and stern and a wood framework. It is a 2 person kayak, has an aluminum rudder operated by cables and foot pedals. I can't seem to find any markings for Manufacturer. There appears to be a logo on one of the backrests, but it has been worn away over many years of use. Any idea on who made it?

Hm, nowhere near 100% sure...
BUT, I think it might be a Klepper Wanderzweier from the late 1930's, and possibly modified during the 40's (by Klepper?). I base this on the cockpit shape, rubber bow cap, frames used and perhaps the hardware. Rudder control is very Klepper too.

Definitive answer might have to come from one of out German contributors.

Interior shots in the bow and stern are necessary for identification. Pedals and backrests are from Klepper T6 1936/39, the shape of the boat reminds us of the two-seater model WZ 1929

Thanks for the info. I'll get more pics of the interior when I get back up to the lake in a few weeks.
