Baught a used taimen kayak

Frame is good,,cover not so mutch.
Its ok got it very very cheap,,

Got it for fun project

Will cover it with tyvek. Or polythene clear plastic,

But my prob,,as a big man 240 pound,,,,,,i want to try it alone,

Where do i sit front or back or middle??

Middle would be the best,,,but not sure the middle can stand that weight,,frame is not realy made for this,!!!

I taught making a long wood board all the lenght of frame. To put in it to make it stronger. Then sit in the middle,,,,

What you guys taughts???

Thanks

Joco

Sit in the middle. Once it's in the water, your weight will be distributed over the length of the hull and supported by th buoyancy of the boat.

I had a loaner around ten years ago,and I'm 6'2" and over 200lbs. The frame is pretty strong. As I recall, they were originally designed for the military. At any rate, I've never heard of a frame failure in this forum.

Be careful how you support your wooden insert. All the weight on it will have to be carried by the attachment points, so you could end up placing more stress on the frame.
