I bought this boat as a pig in a poke. The owner was moving and said his relatives had taken it to New Zealand. Because they packed it wet with salt water, the zipper on the bag would not open. I eventually got it open but found the deck zippers too corroded to work as well as three frozen extension tubes. I cut the zipper pulls off, made new extension tubes, and took the boat to Quebec to watch whales on the St Lawrence River. I haven't much used it since.

All the parts are there including the rudder and seats. It folds into one backpack but you would have to be tougher than me carry it far. The deck zippers may be repairable with lubricant and the included new zipper pulls. I think the velcro closures would be enough. This is the original K2 with integral spray skirts that are supposed to zip close. The sponsons held air when last used. I blew them up today and will check tomorrow.

I hope to have a local pick up near Poland ME, but could box it and ship in several boxes, but that would likely cost $150 or more. It is about 35 years old but might still work for somebody. No leaks when last used.

19'3" long, 31" beam. 69 lb weight. Packed size 37" x 26" x 13" Standard hull, nylon/butyl rubber/nylon laminate.

If you have no takers soon I will be in upstate NY sometime next week, about a 6 hour scenic drive over Route 4 from Saratoga Springs to Minot and may be interested in taking it off your hands. I used to have an older K-1 (and a couple other FC's) so I am familiar with them. Also do my own gear repairs and modifications and could probably replace those messed up zippers (I have a vintage Singer treadle sewing machine that could probably stitch through a two by four -- I've sewed zippers into leather jackets and modified folding kayak decks with it).

Not that I really NEED another folder (and have two projects underway restoring a pair of Pakboats with failed sponsons). But I admit there are times a tandem could be nice, like this Summer when one of my best local paddling buddies is recovering from rotator cuff surgery. I'm sure she would enjoy getting out without having to do much more than steer.

Have you got any photos of it? Don't need to bother trying to take them if you don't -- very generous for you to offer it for free anyway and it would be oafish to ask you to make a bunch of effort.

I am heading to patagonia with a group next january and this could be fulfilling our remaining need of folded kayaks. We have two K1 expedition and are only missing a K2.

Would it be ok for me to pick it up next weekend as i am going to be near you?

let me know if you can wait for me.

Thanks for your response
