We have two kayaks made by Jean Chauveau, probably around 1960. One is a slalom-style single. The other is double with inflatable gunwales and a mast step. Their present condition is fair, at best. Both require some patching or repair to the skin to be serviceable. They are assembled now and probably could not be readily disassembled. We also have a few Chauveau paddles, both wooden and aluminum.
These boats are in Marin County in Northern California.
They formerly belonged to my father, Peter Whitney, who was an editor of American White Water and, briefly, an importer of Chauveau boats.
