Hi,
Has anyone done the crossing to Catalina Island? It is something we would love to do sometime....

The crossing has been done with a "sit on top" see www.topkayaker.net in the sailing section, this might help.

Did you do it alone or in a group. I would much prefer to do it in a group, safety in numbers :D ...Is there a better time of year to do it?? 8) Did you do it in a folding?

Both times with a group. Sept is usually pretty flat. Did it in a hardshell. First time was fun. Had a good group of strong paddlers. Second time was a real pain, paddlers not in good shape. It took 12 hrs when it should have been 7. I went back solo in 6hrs that trip. That was some time ago. No desire to do it again.
