This past December a friend and I set out to kayak the entire west coast of Thailand from the Burmese border to the Malaysian border. We were paddling new FC Wisper XPs. After 2 weeks and 300 kms+ I got a nasty fever and had to pack up, but Tim, my paddling partner made it all the way. He had paddled almost 700 kms.
The boats were amazing and could handle pretty much anything the Andaman Ocean could throw at us. The harsh conditions (sun, sand, salt) really got into everything, so we would take a day each week to clean everything.
We camped along the shore and had great cooperation from the locals. Thai fisherman loved the boats and helped us out with info, water, loans of vehicles to fetch supplies etc. (We both speak some Thai, so this made it much easier.)
The paddle covered a lot of different geography, from the wild underpopulated north Ranong coast, to the tourist overrun islands of Phang Nga Bay north of Phuket.
Being Canucks we both went with Nimbus 4-piece paddles and Hennessy Hammocks for sleeping.
I shot some video with a camera in an underwater housing strapped to my deck. You can check it out here:

It has been 24 years since I was in Thailand. Very inspiring photos and story. Thanks so much for sharing.
