Flew into Tokyo last Thursday with my Khatsalano. Last Sunday ( Oct 9th ) walked a km from Yokota Air Base to Fussa Station with my Khats and boarded a Japan Rail Train for Shiromaru, near Okutama to paddle The Tama River. Fun trip. Met a couple paddling a Fujita double. Not a very long section but I got a good workout paddling against a current. Lots of other paddlers in 2 groups out as well. I found a nice GoreTex dry top where I was assembling and putting in. I asked one of the paddling guides if she lost a top and she was rather elated whenI pulled it out of the cockpit and handed it over. No sweat going back to Yokota. Caught a flight leaving for Elmendorf Air Force Base, near Anchorage Monday am and we arrived late Sunday night. Rented a car and drove to Eklunta Lake, a 5 mile at long glacial fed lake ne of Anchorage. Had the lake all to myself. Mirror flat and the airand water were clear crisp and cold. Paddled the length of the lake and back in about 2.5 hrs. Great day trips. Still trying to catcch hops.
