Dear All,

Almost forgot to tell you about how I started my year in my kayak... At the end of February and with the first day of March me and my friend Radu (with his amazing Pouch RZ-85) went on a short but great trip on the river Mures, from Ciumbrud village to Alba Iulia. Although I have paddled here on an inflatable boat before, the experience in my kayak was far better... We had surprises, like small waterfalls and narrow stretches (railway bridges being repaired) and I also managed to overturn my kayak nearby the shore, under some unexpected low branches of willow :D . Obviously I made it out... and learned my lesson. We had castles on the shore and great scenery, although we would have liked some green in the trees, not yet... next time.

Hope you enjoy,
C.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful photos (and also the other set of the Danube).

I'll second that sentiment-- a descent of the Danube is definitely on my list. You can go up the French canals, too, to transit Europe all the way from the Atlantic to the Black Sea. It's a few km from Lake Constance to the head of the Danube, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhine%E2%80%93Main%E2%80%93Danube_Canal
