Westcoastwilli from Austria and I are organising third annual Pacific NW flotilla, this time on Portland Island's Arbutus Point, near Sidney, on Vancouver Island.

The dates are not yet set, but most likely it will be the weekend of June 19 to 21. Willi will arrive to Victoria on June 16th. We'll post exact details of the flotilla soon.

To avoid discrimination, we'll accept participants with fiberglass/wooden craft.

Last year we expanded our NW get together into full scale circumnavigation of Saltspring Island, followed by a week long trip to the Broken Group.

This year, after initial long weekend meeting on Portland Island, tentative plan is to spend a few days cruising southern gulf islands, followed by a week long trip to Deer Group.

Exact details to follow.

Gerry, I know that you cannot join us this year, as you will be navigating Rio Negro waters at the same time. But next year?

Anyway, we'll talk about it during our Black Canyon of Colorado trip this coming February.

Have a safe trip in the Amazon.

I hope I am not speaking out of school, if that's the phrase I want, when I say I think K v K is off on an adventure right now.

Ok, we have about dozen paddlers so far:

By the way, westcoastpaddler forum is very active in pacific NW area. They talk about everything, from cooking to rolling. Good forum for paddlers!

I am envious of you guys and the trip. One Summer, I hope to join you all. I am lucky though that K7 and I ( among a couple of others ) will be plying the waters of the Rio Negro in Brazil this Summer.

Cheers,
Chris

Chris, add this to your favorites:

A nice paddling forum with lots of info. Also, a perfect place to hook up with other paddlers once you (and Gerry) decide to visit pacific NW.

Just a small teaser below; couldn't resist:

Have a nice one in Rio Negro! I envy you too.

I am envious.....especially the beauty of the N.W. I think K7 will have plenty of pics to post of our adventure, thanks to our collective of cameras.

Cheers,
Chris

Maybe we can go up there some day. I know you and Beth are looking at something special next year but we'll figure something out.

Gerry, I too am thinking that you are lucky to be able to paddle Rio Negro in a good company.

As to the next year, you can start salivating now. Beth would like this form of transportation to the paddling paradise:

But lets talk about it coming February, in the Black Canyon of Colorado. In the meantime, have a nice trip to Brasil.

Anyway, back to the subject. I paddled today to Portland Island. Camping area on Arbutus Point is beautifully green and grassy, and all sites are available (except for a few birdwatching scientists that occupy small part of the area). It better all be available, as there will be at least a dozen or so of us.

The main info traffic goes through this forum:

http://www.westcoastpaddler.com/communi ... php?t=2958

So, anyone interested should go to that site for more information.

See you all there.
