This is a response to a query from siravingmon, posed in the intro section.
The easiest access to the northern Channel Islands (USA) and Channel Islands national Park is offered by Island Packers (IPCO), in Ventura, CA. They have racks to hold non folders and do so routinely. They do a a weight limit of 45 pounds per package for other gear, so check beforehand if that might pose a problem - they are very accommodating.
Sit on kayaks are available for rental at Scorpion Anchorage, Santa Cruz 5sland. They work OK for day paddling into the open sea caves in that part of the island.
The cheapest way to access the islands is to paddle across on your own. This has been done, but familiarity with the island currents and weather patterns, as well as park regulations, is highly recommended.
Most paddling, and other visitor activities, occur on Anacapa and Santa Cruz Islands. Santa Rosa Island and San Miguel Island, further to the west are significantly more isolated and less frequented. They are my favorites and should not be missed.
