Hi
I am looking to learn to kayak, and thought this would be a good place for advice and information.

Thanks
A.

Hi Anglian,
Welcome! It's not a bad place--indeed it is a great little forum. However, if you are new to the sport and want to learn to kayak alongside others have you considered joining the Cambridge Canoe Club? It is based on Sheep Fen. There is also a University Canoe Club which is based by Skater's Fen next to the Riverbank Club. And I've met paddlers in Cambridge who are members of the Peterborough Kayak Club. (I can't remember why they said they preferred Pakkers, but it was probably to do with the sort of trips they run.)
All by way of saying that forums are great places for advice and asking questions, but they aren't really a substitute for going paddling with people who know what they're doing and can give you tips as you paddle. (Or in the case of clubs often have courses that they'll help you through, if you're the sort who learns well that way.)
Maybe see you out on the water one of these days.
Ian
