Hello Everyone,
My name is Juan, and sign in the forum to learn from you.
I'm planning to make a trip in the Caroni River in Venezuela. Similar to amazonas river but smaller and less people. The river is 1000 km long. I'm new in the kayak but not new in expeditions.
The reason because I'm thinking to used a folding kayak is due is a few Water fall that a need to cross. So i need to walk in the jungle.
I need advices about training, best kayak for this type of expedition, every single tips that can helps me to complete this adventure.
Soon I will post the map so you can have a idea where it is.

Thanks in advance

Hi Juan,

I suggest you check out http://pakboats.com/ for their folding canoe range, as I guess you'll be wanting a large capacity canoe for such an expedition. I have no experience of such expeditions myself.

Juan,

Would love to hear more about the trip, that would make suggestions about gear, training, and kayak more useful. How many days? Support? Water needs? You mention a couple of portages, but what does the rest of the river look like? Rapids? Rocks? No matter what, it sounds like a blast!
