Hello everybody.
Tomo, joining from Japan.
I started kayaking on a tandem kayak sold by Japanese builder called Fujita Canoe two years ago. These days I spend my weekends with my wife and dogs.
There are beautiful lakes in Japan to paddle.

I encountered this site while I was exploring for second hand Feathercraft. Also I thought it would be good to exchange information on good places to paddle.

Tomo

Hello Tomo-san,

Welcome to Foldingkayaks.org!

There is beautiful kayaking in Japan-- I have been on Chuzenji-ko and along the West coast of the Miura peninsula. I have dreams about the seas near Nagasaki, Sendai, the Inland Sea, and someday circumnavigating Iriomote (camping on the beaches, along the way).

We have been mourning the demise of Feathercraft, on this site. One of the alternatives is Fujita, but none of us are sure whether Fujita is still being sold in the US-- it does not seem like it is. Did you have an aluminum-frame Fujita, or one of the carbon-wood composites? We would love to hear your opinion on the Fujitas, and how they might compare to other boats you have used (Montbell-Arfeq? Pakboats? Feathercraft?).

Thank you,

Welcome!

As Chris mentioned, I would love to hear about the Japanese folding kayak manufacturers and if they are doing well (hopefully), and also how the news of Feathercraft was taken. I always felt that Feathercraft had a huge following in Japan.

Glad you could join us!

Hey, Tomo! Welcome!

Are you still looking for a Feathercraft? I have a K-light I'm thinking about selling.

Cheers :)
