Hello all.

I'm a novice kayaker who's been recruited (or perhaps coerced...) by a friend into going on a paddling trip to greenland. I came here looking for a boat in the "for sale" section, but I've quickly realized there's tons of info here that would probably benefit me!

I really have no idea what I'm doing, and anything I can learn from you guys definitely helps. :D

Welcome to the forum Riley,

My 2 bits worth for Greenland would be to use a seasock with your folder there - they make a big difference to how warm the cockpit is in cold weather

Welcome Riley. There are so many options, it would be helpful if you describe your intended use in a bit more detail. Days planned? Support? Terrain and sea conditions? The planning is half the fun!

If you'd like to read about some serious kayaking in Greenland, go to:

http://tss2010.blogspot.com

Chris Patton paddled over 250 miles in about a month.
Read it all.
It'll give you a good picture of what the paddling is like and, if you like such things, a look into the mind of a guy on a journey of self discovery even if he didn't actually intend for it to be that.

I will definitely have to look into a sea sock, that seems like a great idea. Thank you.

As far as my planned trip, we're looking to do about 500mi in a month up the west coast ending at upernavik.

That Chris Patton trip journal is awesome reading, thanks for the link! Already learned a ton from it.
