Hello everyone,

American here, but been living in southwestern France for the past two decades.
I bought a Folbot Edisto in 2009, but unfortunately it's seen very little use for various reasons. Principally because its purchase coincided with my becoming a father.
Anyway, I finally decided to take it out again, much to the surprise of my son (who hadn't believed me when I told him the two large black bags upstairs held a folding kayak). And happy that I did, we've had great fun out on the lake, fishing and paddling about. Such a smooth, quiet boat. I was sad to learn that Folbot had folded (apologies for the pun, sure I wasn't the first).

This forum seems to hold a wealth of information, and I already have a question or two to ask in another thread...

Happy paddling

Great flag. You're the American version of Jean Lafitte! :) (French pirate who came to the U.S. Can't go many places in Lousiana/New Orleans without seeing the Lafitte name.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Lafitte

Interesting, thanks for the link regarding Lafitte, whom I'd never heard of. Yet another reason for us to someday visit Louisiana!
My son and I are somewhat fascinated by pirates, and his mother's family is from Saint-Malo, a famous French port once home to "corsairs" (crown-approved pirates).

Welcome, Mike. Fatherhood has also served as a barrier to paddling for me. Now that the boy's 11, I plan to get him on the water when the weather cools off in a week or so.
