So Mark at Long Haul has definitely caught the sailing bug. I think I mentioned a while back the sailing seats he made for sitting out over the coaming. Well he's gone a step further and developed a hiking out seat. It's kinda specific to the Balogh system... but, that won't keep us intrepid folks from modifying it's use if it works. Here are some pics:

Designed with the BSD rig in mind you should be able to pop up on this seat any time and have some fun. Now who wants to raise those amas up?!

My and interest would be trying it without amas and akas. The concern in this case is the initial height of the board and seat. It's tippy when you are that high and not moving much. Once you get going it would be fine, but getting up on the board before you find the 'right' steady wind... experienced players only... ha... or, players willing to get wet! However, I think this could be great fun on a windy day.

So, which do you get, over the coaming sponson seat, or hike out board? I'd kinda like to play with both.

D-- are you familiar with IC10s? I've played with the thought of trying to adapt that concept to the Klepper, in some more imaginative moments...

Stumbled across some great vintage pictures along those lines.
