rolling a Sonnet

Post by merijnwijnen »

Hi All,

My first Sonnet 16 is finished and sceduled for its first trial tomorrow. I have been test fitting the cockpit, and even with my long legs the cockpit is so long that my knees are not under the deck. The sponsons effectively block the below decks area on both sides of the cockpit. So my question is:

How do you prevent that you drop out of the cockpit when rolling this boat?

I already made a knee strap from one side of the cockpit to the other side, with a buckle in the middle. This gives a proper hold, but it will interfere with the seasock I am going to make.

Has anybody tried the Feathercraft style cockpit bars on the Sonnets? Like this:

These would combine nicely with the deckbar:

Or is this problem simply non-existent?

Greetings,
Merijn
