Hey, did a search on here to see if there was any discussion about the yostwerks website and didn't find anything. It seems to be gone! Did it move or has it closed shop? Did anyone save some of the info? Skinning directions, 19 foot double kayak plans, wood frame and folder frame construction directions? Anything?
Thanks
Tyler

Urk... disaster! Time for someone to get in touch with Tom Yost and ask what happened...

Ralph Hoehn tracked down more on this. Apparently Tom is fine, and working on getting the site back up.

Hope he gets it back up soon, this scared me so when he does I will probably save the entire site to my hard drive; just in case.

Someone on those links has a zip of everything.

I just made PDFs of the entire section on skinning (still need to do my T12!).

So, since there's been no word from Tom - I've registered "yostwerks.org" and used the copy of the website I grabbed back in August 2013 (I was building a 18.5' Sea Tour EXP).

I'll modify it so that it's clear it's a "mirror" and I may add some minor tips I picked up from my experience building my Sea Tour, and happily give the domain to Tom when he re-surfaces.

I'm also looking at the archive.org data and have someone sending me his more recent mirror of the site from the Yahoo group so I can try and get it as up to date as possible.

Also, since someone on another forum asked, I'll try and be very clear; I'm putting this mirror up because the last I heard, Tom was trying to get his site back up, and that it looks like his site went down due to a domain squatter - if it turns out that he took it down on purpose, I'll yank it back down in a New York Minute, and the .org domain is his for the asking. I'm not a kayak maker (beyond the one I made for myself - so far) - I'm a Mac IT Consultant, so my only goal here is to make a place to send all the people who keep asking me "where did you get that Kayak?" when I go out paddling.

So: yostwerks.org or http://www.yostwerks.org

That is very cool, thank you.

Is there any way to track Tom down and determine that all is well?

Other people with those resources have been trying to touch in with him, and I believe they will be continuing to do so. Beyond that, we just have to wait until he re-surfaces.

It just seems strange that a person who has been very much involved for so long with unique innovation in folders and inflatables would simply vanish.

I think this is the site that Ian copied and pasted from what Tom had done before... I wonder what happened to Tom? Hope he's alright.
