Post subject:  PBK24 Puffin

Dear All,
A copy of 'Canoes and Canoeing' by Percy Blandford was lent to me a while ago and within it my eye was taken by the PBK24 or Puffin design. This is a one person folding kayak. It seems ideal for trips by rail as it packs away into a bag quite well suited to modern trains without guards vans. (I read one set of canoe building instructions that stated that at 17' this design was the longest that could be fitted in railway luggage vans. Those days have gone but I digress. )
Does anyone have experience of building or using a PBK24 Puffin. Having built two rigid kayaks and being a wood tradesman I am no mug but would be grateful for any pointers especially on the order of assembling the frame into the skin when in use. Also are there any weaknesses or over stressed parts that tend to fail?
Anon,
Malcolm Tierney
