Finally had some of the protected waters open up so I took out the canoe for a test run. 10 minutes from bag to water, but inflating is a workout. This thing is big. a 210 cm Aleutian style paddle was not working real well. Seems like I have to try a 230 Windswift. The canoe handled ok solo. Seems like it would do real well with 2 paddlers. I think it will be a passenger canoe so I can paddle June around. I tried to paddle from the stern seat but needed ballast. I paddled from the bow seat and faced backwards. The boat is pretty symmetrical and that seemed to work. It is around 60 lbs but was able to rack it so it could dry a bit. Hopefully I can try out some canoe paddles soon. http://s167.photobucket.com/user/tsunam ... t=3&page=1

That looks like quite a beast, Chuck. So what do you intend to do with that big of an open boat? Fishing? Day paddling only, I assume? And how does the higher COG effect stability? Sorry for all the ?'s, I have never seen a canoe like that.
And thanks for those great vids from Alaska, please keep them coming.
I am hoping to get to the Kenai in July for the silver run. If you are there I will try to look you up.

Day paddles with my wife. Very stable. Can stand up in it. Will be around all summer
