I have had a bit of a problem lashing things so that they don’t shift around too much. I tried some Velcro strips and straps either glued to or wrapped around the crossmembers and frame tubing, but that never gave me the flexibility that I was looking for. Then I started to tape d-rings to the tubing using glass-reinforced Pro 182 tape (rated to 200 degrees F). This worked much better for me, but the d-rings could still twist and slide in the tape if they were pulled at an angle.

One day I tried cutting a small piece of thin aluminum sheet (.011 thick) into a “tent”, placed it inside the d-ring, and folded it over and onto the tubing. Then I used the same Pro 182 tape to attach both to the tubing. Worked like a charm. I used aluminum flashing material available from Home Depot or Lowe’s. For 1” d-rings, the strips are 15/16” wide and the legs are each 5/8” long. The corners are cut off about 1/8” X 45 degrees so that no sharp points can snag the hull material. A piece of tape about 6” long is wrapped around the aluminum “tent” and frame tubing twice.
