Aluminum washboards for aleut

Post by chappco »

I am looking for the two aluminum washboards to fit an Aleut. Not sure if the old style folding washboards would stand up to the Folbot sail and outrigger kit I have. The aluminum ones have the holes drilled in them for the kit, the older ones do not, so not sure of the strength of the older folding type...

Any experience or the washboards?

Thanks so much.

Have owned 2 each greenland IIs with sails both stolen, unfortunately
Have one Yukon with sail rig
Have one Aleut.
Regards
Pat

I don't know what to tell you. I have a GII that has the aluminum and the other with the plastic (or whatever). I would give anything to know who the supplier was in Charleston. There so many people who have been trying to find those parts. I was just looking online, and thought about cold calling every metal fabricator in town to see if I can find someone who might have supplied the aluminum pieces to them. I imagine that those pieces are actually used for some other purpose but Folbot was cutting, joining, bending them in house. I don't know if the former owner would have or provide such information but I believe he is still in Charleston.

I'm going to see if I can get anyone from Charleston to chime in.

Well, I guess I could sandwich the two ends near the cockpit nose with a spacer between so as not to crush the washboard and use aluminum riveted kind of like they did with the seat back support mounting points. I can't imagine getting someone to make them unless it is the original vendor, and then they may have a non-compete to sell without Folbot permission.

I think I will give that a try, I wonder, have others used outriggers and sail with the poly washboards?

Best Regards
Pat
