Now I have a pair!

Post by Ob1quixote »

My "pretty" boat is a 15ft single rigid, unknown year. After repairing the stern skin and recovering the deck, it is set aside for waters with clean bottoms! Probably cant see it, but I replaced the plywood cockpit coamings with tiger wood and added a slight scallop to each side for a paddle rest

Was cruising the local pawn shops, looking for something I couldnt live without, and found it!
Best I can tell, it is an early model Yukon. Saw the manager was in a dealing mood, so I hit him with a $200 offer.
He taps the keys on his computer, then shows me where he has $225 in the boat.
Tells me "If you have $230, the boat is yours!"

Added a nice sit-on seat and some throwable cushions to improve the seating position. This will be my beater boat. Got rid of the 10ft sit-on barge that had been my beater boat.

That's a great score. My $200 Folbot was pretty rough.

Great find!

I would love to find a nice rescue Yukon, or Kiawah. I just picked up a thoroughly assaulted GII. Looking forward to rehabbing it and getting it back on the water.

Just FYI, your blue boat is a Folbot Aleut. They are great little boats! I have been out in some rough conditions in one.

Definitely looks like my Aleut, great boat! It not only paddles well but sails too. It is a bit weight sensitive (rides a lot higher when my wife paddles than when I do) . Easy to assemble and can sit in the car trunk for whenever an opportunity to paddle occurs.
