Post subject: Repairing a deck seam
PostPosted: Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:10 am
I have a Nautiraid Grand Raid II model from around 2001. The seam on the deck that goes across from near the front of the cockpit to where the hull joins has come unglued. I've been doing a bit of searching to try to find out the best way to repair this, but haven't found anything as of yet except for a reference to PVC cement. I tried contact cement, but it wouldn't bond this seam.

Any suggestions on the best way to re-glue this seam?

Thanks,

Glenn, Millport, PA

Thanks to a suggestion from the bagboater mailing list, I was referred to this page from Thomas Yost's site:

http://www.yostwerks.com/Skin3.html

In my search for a local source for HH-66, I found the website of the manufacturer and filled out the distributor information request form; I hope to hear from them on Monday.

Just a comment about the seam that separated on my boat. This boat isn't used a whole lot; in fact it was stored over much of the past year. We had it out once this year, then I had it in the back yard in the hot sun for a few days since it hadn't yet dried out and I had to leave for a few days. Anyway, when I was packing it up, I noticed that the seam had separated cleanly from where it is sewn at the coming to the where it is sewn where the hull and deck come together.

Hi Glenn,
I suggest you to ask directly to Nautiraid, they have an excellent customer service.
I asked them the instructions for a Raid 416 I've bought second hand, and they sent it me in two days.

Don't try experiments.

Excellent advice ...

Also, he lives in the States. Nautiraid's USA representative is as follows :

http://www.sedakayak.com/

Their Email is info @ sedakayak.com

They might be able to give some insight as to who to speak with at Nautiraid, and what procedure Nautiraid expects their customers to follow to get satisfaction.

I have precisely the same issue on my 2000 Grand Raid. I have sent an email to the company and am waiting for a response. Does anyone know how this issue can be addressed?

Thanks

Tom

Hello,
You have to be sure of the material which will be glued together : PVC, hypalon ?
Recent Nautiraid have now a different seam than 2000/01 Grand Raid
can you add some pictures of the part unglued ?
