Roof racks

Post by Papsmagee »

I just got a great used Nautiraid Grand Raid 500 Expedition and have yet to get it in the water. Putting together takes longer than I'd like for daily paddles (I'm retired), so I'd like to carry it on my car roof. Trouble is, it's 17' long, 4' longer than my little Focus ZX3. Suggestions on roof racks?

Welcome aboard-- please post in intro in the intro section.

Almost any roofrack will do. It might sound counter-intuitive at first, but these boats are usually carried upright on roofracks, rather than bottom-up. I'm very happy with my "Seattle Sports Sherpak Boat Roller" for getting the boat on and off my minivan alone-- the weight would make it almost impossible without that device.
