I finally had the chance to try out the K1 I bought last year for a couple of outings in almost flat calm conditions inside a reef on the east coast of Sri Lanka (I moved to Coloombo last year).
I now have tremendous respect for the people who race hardshell K1s in any conditions, but I managed to make it a lot less tippy by removing the bucket seat and base, sitting on a thin rubber mat on the keel tube (you need a fairly narrow butt to be able to get this low), adding 10 kg of lead shot ballast (scuba diver weight bags) either side of the keel tube and using a greenland paddle, which allows fast low braces.

Would love to see pics of the K1, that has to be about the rarest folder out there. Does Nautiraid still sell it?
Best,
