Narak 405 Cross

Post by Fatfrog »

Seen at Paddle Expo boat show this week-end in Nürnberg, Germany, the new kayak from Nautiraid.
Narak 405 Cross is a "crossover" kayak intended to be paddled on flat water, coastal and whitewater up to class III.
10 minutes assembly time is announced with a 16 kg weight. Nice looking and practical.

Just curious. How does it differ from the Nautiraid 416, apart from being shorter and lighter, please?

This boat has a different structure with 5 aluminum tubes while the Raid 416 has 7 if I'm correct. This saves weight.
The bow is Narak style like a seakayak so the gain is better behaving in choppy waters.
The waterline will be shorter at around 385 cm which shall give more manoeuvrability.
I think there is more room in the cockpit and the cockpit rim is bigger for standard sized sprayskirts.
These are the differences, but apart from that it shares with the 416 the same tensioning system and hull construction.

Thanks very much for the info. So is it only available in alloy tubing, with no wooden framed version?
