deck rot

Post by capedoryus »

Boat is a A2 that is about 20 years old and the hull, sorry to say from lack of use, is just about spotless. When I did get the boat out this year I found mold on the deck in two spots. Seems like the the spot where the deck touched. I was not to upset till I washed the hull after using it and found the mold went through the deck material. Can somebody fill me in on how to fix this. The area is about 3 or 4 in X 2 in just above the air sponnons. Should I sew, glue or a combination of both.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

This is a very old thread I know, but I noticed a bit of green mould/rot on my AII deck after some poor storage. Did you ever solve your problem?

I have seen white vinegar, alcohol, and Lysol recommended for removing bleach from canvas. Some recommend a very dilute bleach solution, but even dilute bleach will affect the color and might weaken the fabric.

I'm not worried about the cosmetic side of things but don't want my deck to start falling apart off the coast in a blow.
