I am currently researching portable toilets that are small enough to pack in a boat.
None are small, unless you have a double or going to a daytrip without any gear under deck. Just bury it. Here is the tool, costs $2.50
http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___86702. Worked for me in Baja sands, here in BC rocks this is more challenging, but they have pit-toilets in most of my local weekend destination parks. And, - yes - per Ralph Diaz or somebody else suggestion I've almost stopped using a toilet paper (paper takes longer to degrade in soil than human waste, and burning it in a mini-bonfire is a pain, when you've just done the thing in the last minute before sailing off and it rains and/or there is no time). Leafs and seashells work fine for the most part. But I still carry flattened half-roll of paper, mostly for darn Mexican longdistance buses - you see, bus itself is usually a decent brand, equipped with a toilet, but since it's used and maintained by locals, you can't always expect a toilet paper there. And there are no leafs or seashells too.
